U4GM PoE 2 Monk League Start Tips for Hollow Palm

The first few hours on a Monk in Path of Exile 2 can feel a bit awkward, and that's not you playing badly. The class just doesn't come out swinging as hard as you might expect. If you're starting fresh, treat the early game like a small setup job rather than a pure Monk fantasy from minute one. A quick mule can save you a lot of hassle, especially if you care about smooth Act 1 pacing and early PoE 2 Items upgrades while you're still piecing the build together. Many players make a Mercenary, grab a Crossbow and Explosive Grenade, then swap back. It sounds cheesy, sure, but it works.

Getting Through the Slow Start

Explosive Grenade does a lot of the heavy lifting before the Monk really wakes up. Pair it with Contagion and packs start falling over without much fuss. You don't need a perfect setup here. You just need reliable clear and enough damage to stop early bosses from turning every fight into a chore. Frost Bomb is also worth using if a boss feels too tanky, since it gives you a safer rhythm and helps keep pressure on the target. If you'd rather stay closer to melee, a Huntress mule for a Spear and Twister setup is fine too. It's more hands-on, though, and not quite as relaxed.

The Level 22 Switch

Level 22 is the point where the build starts to feel like it has an identity. That's when Hollow Palm Technique comes online. Dropping your weapons feels wrong at first, but don't overthink it. The damage scaling is the point, and your empty hands still count as using a Quarterstaff for the skills that matter. From here, your gear priorities change fast. You want Evasion and Energy Shield bases, not chunky armour pieces that slow the whole idea down. Evasion feeds your attack speed, while Energy Shield helps your critical chance. It's a strange mix, but once it clicks, the Monk feels much sharper.

Storm Wave and Mid-Game Choices

Storm Wave should carry you through a good chunk of the campaign after the swap. It has enough reach that you're not always glued to danger, and the hit feel improves a lot once your Evasion starts climbing. Around level 41, you can start shaping the build more clearly. Whirling Assault gives you that spinning, aggressive style, while Shattering Palm leans harder into burst windows and clean pack removal. On the passive tree, don't skip the practical stuff. Concussive Attack and Tenfold Attacks aren't flashy picks, but they add the control and consistency you'll miss later if you ignore them.

Making Bosses Feel Manageable

For bosses, the trick people often talk about is Wyvern Tech. It's not as mysterious as it sounds. You're setting up a stun with Wing Blast, then using Rend to spend power charges and gain a big Lightning damage boost. The part that takes practice is cancelling Rend with Explosive Grenade so you're not stuck in place for too long. It feels clumsy the first few tries, then suddenly it makes sense. Keep your support gems current, replace weak Evasion pieces when you can, and don't be shy about looking for ways to buy u4gm PoE 2 Items if your gear falls behind the campaign curve. Monk rewards patience, but it rewards smart preparation even more.
